With a shared interest in flight my friend Ben Goldberg and I choose to do this project for our senior mastery project in high school. Focusing on wind tunnel design the project involved learning basic aerodynamic principles as well other skills necessary for the construction of a small open circuit wind tunnel. With a small budget, of about $300.00, we were successful in building a wind tunnel that could effectively use flow visualization in several scenarios to observe the flow of air. Some models that were tested included different airfoil shapes, a Formula One racing car, pickup truck, and tractor trailer. Below are some pictures of construction as well as some pictures and videos of different flow visualization tests.
